For Exquisite Knowing Challenge 2017, interdisciplinary artist and Exquisite Knowing founder, Ashley David (Calif.), teamed up with Momentum Bike Clubs (South Carolina) to bring underserved high school students and their mentors to Silicon Valley from Greenville County, August 5-10, to collaborate with Bay Area youth in an immersive, cycling-based 6-day examination and living experiment in community-making, working homelessness, and innovation.
The Bay Area summit was designed, using the Exquisite Knowing system, to catalyze empowerment, empathy, and compassion, and to build bridges between communities holistically. It challenged participants to take “building resilience” to the next level, and it expanded the scope of Momentum Bikes Clubs to include national focus and exposure.
With Exquisite Knowing Challenge 2017, we leveraged several EKontexts to power participants to catalyze micro-empowerment as learners, leaders, and community-makers. Our exploration focused on burning questions about poverty and privilege and created possibility through experience and exchange. Participants visited Facebook, cycled for sport and transportation, sheltered at a church, showered at a gym, met local leaders and innovators, and processed their experiences through ExquisiteKnowing workshops.
